Givens studied various medical courses at Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Robin studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Givens hosted the talk show "Forgive or Forget" in 2000 replacing television personality Mother Love. She received Black Reel Awards nomination in 2004 for her fabulous performance in the television show "Hollywood Wives: The New Generation" [2003]. Robin Givens has written her autobiography 'Grace Will Lead Me Home' in 2007.

Robin's father, Reuben, abandoned her family when she was a young girl and she seldom saw him after that.

Gave birth to a baby boy, William, in October 1999 - father of the baby is tennis player Murphy Jensen but the couple are no longer together.
